Compassionate Communication is a skill we can learn, a proven science and art we can practice. It’s one of the most important things we can bring to any situation, that will get us a lot more of what we want, and everything we really need. In intimate relationships, business, community, and even with adversaries, it’s a key to transforming pain and breakdowns in relating, and feeling empowered and fulfilled. It also makes it possible for us to build bridges not walls, and be the change we want to see in the world.
This workshop gets us practicing core skills and foundations of Compassionate Communication, which originated with decades of brilliant work by Marshall Rosenberg as Non-Violent Communication, further developed by a number of others. I was first introduced to this work in the 1980’s, and have studied and taught it ever since. I’ve also put it to the test in the fires of breakdown with hundereds of people in couples counseling, restorative justice, and interventions I have led and participated in. This is simply what works. Combined with my unique insights into trauma and triggers, I’m very excited about adding this work back into my repertoire. It’s just as much an essential foundation of Tantra and work on Awakening as it is in every other type of relating. In fact I believe it may be the most important spiritual practice we can learn, much moreso than any dogmas or energetic calistenics, and we will be surprised at how much this accellerates our living experience of what we most deeply long for.
